THE DOG WHO CAME TO BREAKFAST
by Maggie Grinnell
Daisy, a white fluffy miniature poodle with sad brown eyes was ready for breakfast. Her fur was fluffed up with a green bow clipped on top of her head.
Daisy ran her little legs over to the table. She jumped up onto the
empty oak chair facing the kids.
The kids had already been served their eggs and sausage.
Daisy didn't see her plate of food. She tilted her head and wondered
'where is my plate, my napkin? Maybe wagging my tail will get me a
plate' she excitedly thought. Swish, swish went the tail across the
bottom of the chair.
The kids laughingly called out to their mom.
Ester turned and saw a sigh to behold: Daisy sitting in one of the
chairs wagging her tail.
Kevin, one of Ester's kids, pointed to Daisy saying 'She wants what
we have.' He grabbed a piece of sausage with his 2 fingers and
reached over to Daisy, handing her the piece of pork.
'Stop it' Ester demanded, taking the piece of pork from Kevin.
Kevin and the other kids felt hurt when their mom didn't want to feed Daisy.
Seeing the disappointed faces surrounding the table, Ester gave the sausage to Daisy. The kids screamed 'yeah.' Daisy thought 'Next time, go for the eggs.'
